You’re a Prepaid Legal Associate – Now What?

You’ve taken the plunge and become a Prepaid Legal Associate — or at least you’re thinking about it. Bravo! I really do extol you for your hard work. Getting started is the first step toward any worthwhile goal

But what do you do next? And after that? Where are you even going?

Becoming a Prepaid Legal Associate was a great first step toward reaching your financial goals. The company has been around for a long time, they have amazing services, and they have very little competition. So what’s caused the long line of failed Prepaid Legal Associates?

Because they lack marketing training, that’s why. They get started in their new opportunity, but then they’re stuck. Like many network marketing companies, Prepaid Legal hardly does much to guide their associates in marketing techniques. So for new associates who would like a head start, here are some suggestions:

First, you have to recognize your intended audience. Once you’ve satisfactorily annoyed your personal list, (friends and family, and the list of 1,000 people they make you come up with), make your mind up as to who you’ll focus on next. Will it be your neighbors? Strangers at the mall? Doctors? Architects? People you meet at networking events? Felons? You get the picture.

Now that you know WHO your target market is, consider what they need. The issue with a lot of these MLM organizations is that they talk about the features of their excellent products, their amazing debt-free company, and that they have the “best comp plan in the entire MLM industry”.

Marketing 101 will tell you not to focus on the features, but to really zero in on the benefits the products will provide to your intended audience. Nobody cares about the gizmos and gadgets. They care about the impact on numero uno. You have to know what your intended audience really wants at the deepest level, and how to really get down to the emotion of your prospects.. Maybe you want to highlight protection, or being able to sleep at night, or the fact that they can preserve wealth which can then be used to achieve their life goals. Can you see why choosing your target market first was so important? If you don’t have a limited group of people in mind, it’s very difficult to decide which benefits to point out.

Be someone worth investing time in. This aspect should really be at numer one, but lots of you would have given up on me had I included it there. See, people, especially these days, are becoming exceedingly doubtful. When you’re out there selling your gadgets or your business opportunity, you’re also promoting YOU, Inc. Especially with the business opportunity, who YOU are is significantly more vital than the MLM itself. I’m sure you’ve heard it said over and over that people only go into business with someone they know, like and trust. How will your future business partners get to know you? If they do get to know you, are you an enjoyable human being? Did you know there’s actually some science involved in being liked? Educate yourself on how to be a magnetic personality and don’t bother with this business if you aren’t trustworthy.

Get some good training. Comp plans, products, services, and company structure are important, yes.. But the most crucial things a Prepaid Legal Associate does, the things that really put money in their bank account, are marketing, selling, and providing team support. It’s the same in just about any business. So become proficient in those aspects of the business. If you’ve just recently become a Prepaid Legal Associate yourself, you appreciate how frightening it can be. You know that once the thrill of the limitless possibility wears off, the real work starts. If you don’t know what to do, you call your advisor. Well, your downline members must be afforded the same courtesy. If you’re building a connection with that prospect to make the sale, or to get them in to the business, then you should be the one they can turn to when questions arise. So educate yourself to know the answers, or have the resources they need in order to find the answers.

If you’re feeling like you still aren’t sure exactly what to do next, don’t panic. My next article, on Marketing Your Prepaid Legal Business, will fill you in on more of the details of actually finding people to talk to, providing a great knowledge base for you and your new team, and how to be the Prepaid Legal Associate who ends up on stage at the next Super Saturday.
